又一关于平行宇宙(parallel universe/multiverse)的科幻片。
The 1st Day,
As imagined, travel with public transportation on Sunday turned out not to bea good idea. Anyway, this is none of my choice. The training in Siemens will begin on Monday. Therefore I have to be present there at latest in Sunday evening. The delay of bus 142 was 10 minutes, which is normally approximate zero. After arriving at the train station Harburg, when the time of my train came, a train which has the same routine arrived with a 1-hour delay... Since the routine is the same, I asked the steward whether it’s possible to also travel with this train. Having got his permission, I got my 4.5-hour trip started.
In addition, I waited for a bus to get to the hotel for another half hour in Nuremberg.
Before having a shower, I took a little walk around the hotel and settled the travel routine to Siemens. There were not much interesting or pleasing in the first day, except the encouragement from the maid of the hotel, who said my German was “schon so gut”.:
The 2nd Day,
Because of not realising the transition from DST to Non-DST time, I got up at half past 5… A lovely and nutrient breakfast made me even more excited and energetic for the first-day training... Of course, the time I arrived at Siemens training centre was so out of everyone’s expectation that actually there weren’t any service staff in the building. Half an hour later, a kind man opened the door to the classroom and gave me the chance to wait for another hour with a cup of coffee, sitting inside. When I read the list of students beside the door, I saw a Japanese name. Finally, I got to see a Japanese in my real life. Just when I was full of passion for competing with the Japanese during the course, I saw a middle aged “Ojisan” came in. He even has a 16-year-old daughter. Moreover, in the end, I was the only one who’s not married in the class.
The 1st day’s training was very elementary. I went back with two Serbian classmates who lived near the central station as well as the old city centre. We had nice black beer in a restaurant which was supposed to be famous (although I’d not heard of it…) for making the beer right under the restaurant. We talked a lot about the politics in Sellbia. They pictured the political competition in Sellbia which is unbelievable chaotic. They have 300+ parties and in the recent 7 years they had 6 government. Basic objectives, regulations and people in charge are being changed all the time in fields including education, economy, industry and so on. The country is facing a huge brain-drain due to the fact that young people are really driven panic after all those non-stopping change in policy. The Japanese also went to downtown with us and had dinner together. He formerly worked in Omron, and had just joined Siemens in Japan. It’s amazing to see a man in his 45, still being passionate for life, learning English and technical details.
At about 8:30, I got back to my sweet home. There were an orange and a chocolate on the desk. Suddenly, the scene made me so grateful, as a foreigner, and in his first business trip. I wrote “Danke für die Orange und Schokolade” on the napkin, with sincere gratitude.
The 3rd Day,
Correction, I was the only one who does not have a child in the class.
The content of the training is getting more and more interesting. We actually started to program. As a beginner, the guy from Omen has some problems with programming. Japanese Ojisan was also not totally capable for this, but with years of experience working in Omron, I think it won’t be as terrible as programming is to the guy from Omen. Those two from Serbia seemed quite satisfied with today’s exercises, which were not too easy to make them yawning all the time, like yesterday.
Mr. Maier, the instructor, was idle in the most time of the day, just walking here and there, asking “Everything’s OK? ”. I don’t know why he’s always moaning during speaking. He could make that noise in the throat for more than 5 times within a 5 words’ sentence.
The amount of lunch was still far from enough with a price far from realistic, however, the fact of which at least demonstrated how wealthy employees in Siemens are. People, let’s apply Siemens after graduation!
It was raining all the day. Therefore I did not have the motivation to go shopping in the centre of the city. Maybe tomorrow.
Today, the Dow Jones Industrial Index climbed 889 points to 9067, i.e. nearly 11%, which is the second highest rise in a year and a tremendous encouragement to the market after the crisis is officially announced.
The 4th Day,
Endless rain…No stimulus at all to go to the central city. Yet, still bought a candle and a perfume oil for her.
After the Fed Reserve announced a 50-basic-point decrease in interest rate, for the second time in the same month, Dow froze finally at 8992, which is a little bit out of expect.
Another great financial news is Porsche’s plan of buying VW. Let’s see what happens.
The 5th Day,
Boring training. There’s really nothing exciting for me as long as the content about programming is finished.
A strong beginning of Dow INDP led the index keep increasing all day, despite of the published economic contraction of 0.3% in the 3rd quarter this year by the U.S. government. EXXON Mobil even released a profit of 14.8 bn US dollars in the 3rd quarter. However, the oil price in this period soared even up to 140 dollars, with an ending price of 100 dollars. And the price nowadays has already retreated to below 70 dollars ($ 65 today), less than half of the summit price in the year. That is to say, the surprising profit won’t surprise the world for a long time.
Yen achieved its highest exchange rate to the dollar in 13 years.
The T-Mobil G1 with Google OS on board started to be available in the UK market. iphone’s monopolistic era is eventually ended.
The debts of the U.S. government have been piled up to10 trillion dollars!
I don’t know exactly why I’m talking about all this, but this is my life here…
